Hello from Moscow

Can't believe that I am in Moscow. The former enemy during the cold war, now has a Holiday Inn, McDonalds, Sbarro, TGI Fridays, etc. I walked around the Kremlin. 20 years ago, I would have been captured and shot as a spy. Now, I'm approached about a tour.

I leave today for Astrakhan. I have a feeling the luxury of the Holiday Inn will quickly be forgotten.

DW / Starlight / Monkey's / Trip / Etc.

So, Sunday night, I took my DW to Starlight to see Disney's On The Record. I had talked to a friend's sister the night before who said that the show was good, but that there was no plot, just a lot of songs. So, I wasn't expecting a lot. Happily, she was wrong. The show was very good. There was a definate plot. It was told through the songs. The only sad part for me was seeing all the parents with their kids, and seeing the kids get bored. It wasn't a show for kids. Not that it was dirty or anything like that. It was just not something kids would enjoy. I'm sure the parents thought it would be like any other Disney show, with Mickey and Minnie coming out, Tinkerbell, the princesses, etc. It wasn't. The cute little girl in front of me looked at her mom halfway through and said, "I'm bored", and they left. Then, I saw two adorable girls in their princess outfits walking out with their parents at intermission. It really made me sad, for some reason. But, the show was great, from an adult's point of view.

Monkey's with Handgrenades was very good. Pete did a gret job getting everyone together, herding the cats, and pulling the show down on time. I felt much satisfaction that Paseo At Night went over so well, and was rated highly after the show, after it had been cut two times by CBH. Much credit to Pearl, who really pulled off the singing. As always, a couple of sketchs didn't hit, but then again, there are 30, so most did great.

T-Minus two days and counting. I don't think I'll answer the phone for the next two days, because I know it will be Arati telling me my trip is postponed again. Starting to get excited. Must . . . resist . . . the . . . temptation . . . . . .to . . . . . . . . get . . . . . .excited.
