Greetings from Fay Central

So, after all the build-up, they hype, the dire predictions, we are in the middle of Tropical Storm Fay, and it's so far a non-issue. Sure, there is lots of rain, and some good gusts of wind, but overall, not much exciting.

We did have a couple of "refugees" the past couple of days. Our dear friend Tracy and her sister contacted us after they were mandatory evacuated out of the Florida Keys. They came up, spent a couple of nights, and one day at Disney. They left today, and hopefully everything worked out perfect with their flights.

So, right now, it's raining, a bit windy, and we're just fine.

Let's hope it stays that way all night.

The Highlight of the "Encore" Cast Show

This is Lindsay Bethea, a Cast Member at Walt Disney World, stealing the show during the Encore production of Anything Can Happen.

D&MN YOU AUTO FLUSHING TOLIETS

We are still working on potty training with Charlie. And, by we, I mean Kim and I. Charlie isn't working that hard at all.

He knows the actions, he intelectually wants to do it, but the emotional is still a bit difficult. So, he'll go into a bathroom stall, take down his pull up, stand or sit (his choice), but nothing happens. He then stands up, tries to bluff ("I did it"), and goes to wash his hands. Nothing happens.

Until tonight. We were at Home Depot, getting some paint for his room, when he announced, "I need to go pee pee". Now, we weren't sure whether this was a true decleration of imminent urination, or merely a ruse to let him out of the racecar stoller and allow him to walk the aisles. We went with him, though, because we want to encourage him in his potty training.

So, Kim took him to the potty (as I was waiting for our Buzz Blaster Blue paint), and apparently, he dropped his pullup, and a small trickle appeared. Then, suddenly, the autoflusher on the toliet decided to flush. It scared him, he cried, and potty time was done.

Oh, well, back to the drawing board.

An Anniversary of Firsts

This is an email from my wife. I thought I would share what she wrote:

Hello Friends – Just wanted everybody to know that today is an anniversary for several “firsts” in our family. Three years ago today, we were in court in Russia, and became the parents of our Charlie. So today is his “Gotcha Day” as they call it in the adoptive community. We feel like he’s been ours forever, and can’t imagine life without our little blessing.

Also, one year ago today we moved into our house in Orlando. I can’t believe it’s been a year already, and we’ve settled in nicely to life in Florida. We LOVE being Floridians. And, I was so grateful Disney provided movers for us – it’s the ONLY way to make a move cross country like we did. But it was still a big job unpacking and settling in, especially in the heat of August in Florida. But we did it, and survived to tell the tale!

Third, my parents’ 47th wedding anniversary is on August 1 – yay Mom and Dad!

Happy Friday everyone. Just wanted to share those warm fuzzies with you all.

Kim
